APPRECIATION

 OUTBREAK OF GASTROINTESTINAL INFECTION

The Board of Trustees, President and entire members, Down Syndrome Foundation Nigeria express profound appreciation and gratitude to you all for your support, expressions of concern, and well wishes during one of the most trying periods of its 16 year existence. Gratitude extended  to our wonderful and understanding parents who stood by us too.

Overwhelming appreciation goes to the Lagos State Government ,. The  Commissioner for Health , Chief State Epidemiologist, the team of public health officials from Surulere LGA and the CMD,  Doctors, Nurses of the LAGOS UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL. Words cannot convey our deepest feelings for their swift response and professional intervention in a crisis that had the potential to escalate.  It was indeed most traumatic and a terrifying period for all of us.

We pray for the soul of one of ours, who died also as a result of underlying medical complications, and that the Almighty will grant his family the fortitude and strength for this loss

We believe everything happens for a reason, and that very valuable lessons have been gleaned from this experience.

Finally, I must mention our experience with one of the male nurses at LUTH who handled the cases on the very first day:

I have never ever met such a dedicated, patient, helpful, calm personality in my life. A few days, after the ‘turmoil’ had somewhat settled, I asked him what drives him; what gives him the passion that I observed; and this is what he told me: “Service to Humanity Is the Rent You Pay for Living on Earth”.

May we all learn to live for purpose on this maxim

God bless you all!

Yours Sincerely

Muyiwa Majekodunmi
